The Coronavirus challenge – remote networking

On the 7th March the Economist published an upbeat message. ‘Covid-19 is foisting change on business. Some of it may be for the better’ was the subtitle.

For some companies, ‘the interruption will have a lasting effect, accelerating trends in business organisation that were already under way’. It ends, ‘the crisis offers a chance to experiment with new ways of doing things – and to question the wisdom of old habits’

Ed Little a brand strategist and consultant to GFOS suggested I do podcasts in October last year. ‘Podcasts are trending’, he convinced me, ‘they provide relevant practical information for the market segment you are focussed on and also provide your network with an opportunity to win business remotely’. Little did I realise how important this would be within only a few short months of our conversation.

Ed talks to us direct in this week’s podcast.

How to Keep your Money’ podcasts relate specifically to those who want to find out more on how to invest, spend and/or give. Our market segment is wealthy families and is invaluable not only to them, but also to anyone who works for or sells to this hard to reach market.

The obvious benefit with a podcast on ‘How to Keep your Money’ is that you will be seen by our UHNW clients and their friends and families, you will also be seen by all the service and product providers who have clients who may be interested in what you do for your clients. We have a network of 8,000 so we reach a highly targeted niche market.

Second with a podcast on ‘How to Keep your Money’ you will have an audio promotion which you can send to your network and contacts.

As a Fellow of the Institute of Taxation, lawyer, author of two books; ‘How to win business from Private Clients’ and ‘When you are Super Rich who can you Trust?’,  and former contributor to the Financial Times on Tax and Trusts –I know what interests listeners. I do my research on who you are and what you do and then ask questions to display you, your expertise and your knowledge in the best possible light.

Third you can be proactive.  Listen to other podcast professionals – maybe some of your clients may be interested in their services or products, send it to your clients. Feedback their comments to the podcast professional; everyone is interested in people keen to give them business

Fourth we cluster our podcasts around topics; Wealth Creators post Brexit, Benefits of Jersey, Privacy and Reputation and Tax Investigations are the first four. Maybe a topic is of particular interest to users of your services and products. By sponsoring our newsletters which promote these podcasts your services and products will come to their attention. For example; you may be a firm which provides close protection services and want to be noticed by wealthy families and interested in Privacy and Reputation. You can get noticed simply by sponsoring these newsletters and podcasts. Watch the analytics; who is opening, reading and sharing your content.

The Coronavirus challenge; how to use lockdown to ‘question the wisdom of old habits’.
